Connect your Shopify store
You install OtoRank from the Shopify App Store and approve the scopes. OtoRank adds a URL redirect and a lightweight theme app embed. No theme files to edit.

Sync the catalog
OtoRank reads your products, variants, collections and policies so it has the full picture of what the store sells.

Analyse each product
Every product is checked for the information an AI needs: description depth, structured content, FAQs, comparisons, use cases, images, variants, reviews and stock.

Calculate the AEO score
Each product and the store as a whole get a 0 to 100 score across five areas: content quality, trust signals, crawlability, catalog completeness and AI crawler activity.

Flag the gaps
OtoRank lists what is missing or weak, ranked by how many points it would recover, so you fix the highest-impact issues first.

Generate the missing content
For products you choose, OtoRank drafts the five content types: description, FAQ, buyer guide, comparison and use cases. One credit per content piece per product.

Review before anything publishes
Every draft lands in a review queue. You approve, edit or reject. Nothing goes live on its own.

Publish approved content
Approved content is written back to your Shopify product pages.

Update the llms.txt discovery file
Approved discovery content is chunked and written into your llms.txt, after Shopify's section. Nothing Shopify generates is replaced.

Monitor AI crawlers
OtoRank logs visits from GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and others, so you can see which AI systems are actually reading your store.

Sessions and orders that arrive from AI sources are tracked separately from crawler visits, so you are not conflating the two.

As products, content and policies change, scores update and OtoRank re-flags what is worth regenerating.
Important limitations
- OtoRank improves what an AI can read about your store; it does not control what an AI concludes or recommends.
- AI crawler visits, citations, referral sessions and orders are tracked as separate metrics, not one score.
- Content generation uses credits and needs human review; it is not instant catalogue-wide coverage.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the first pass take?
The catalog sync and scoring run shortly after install. Content generation is on demand and depends on how many products and content types you select and your available credits.
Does OtoRank change my theme or my prices?
No. It adds a redirect and a theme app embed on install and removes them on uninstall. It writes product content and llms.txt only after your approval. It does not touch pricing, checkout or theme layout.
What happens to the content if I uninstall?
OtoRank removes the redirect and app embed automatically. Product content you already approved and published stays on your products unless you remove it.
Can I review everything before it goes live?
Yes. The review queue is mandatory. Even a catalogue-wide generation run waits for your approval before publishing.
