Does OtoRank guarantee AI recommendations?
No. No tool can. Whether an AI assistant recommends a product depends on signals outside any merchant's control: the model, its training data, its retrieval system, and the exact question a shopper asks. How is this different from Shopify's own llms.txt?
Shopify's file handles the transaction layer: the UCP endpoint, MCP tools, and the checkout flow AI agents use to buy from your store. It doesn't include product descriptions or FAQ content, so there's nothing there for an AI to base a recommendation on. OtoRank writes its discovery content into that same file, right after Shopify's part. Nothing gets replaced. More on this in Shopify llms.txt explained.
Do I need to touch code or edit theme files myself?
No. OtoRank creates a URL redirect and a lightweight theme app embed when you install it. There's no code to copy and no theme file to open yourself.
Will this conflict with the SEO app I already use?
Unlikely. OtoRank doesn't touch meta titles, sitemaps, page speed, or anything a general SEO app already handles. It's focused specifically on AI-discovery content: product prose, FAQs, and the llms.txt file most SEO apps don't generate at all. Most stores run both side by side.
What's a credit, exactly?
One credit generates one AI content piece for one product: a description, FAQ set, buyer guide, comparison, or use-cases section. There are 5 content types, so fully covering one product with all of them costs 5 credits, not 1. Paid plans get a set number of credits each month: Growth 250 (about 50 fully-covered products), Pro 750 (about 150), Enterprise 2,000 (about 400), or more products if you generate fewer content types per product. The Free plan scores every product for free, no card required, and includes 5 one-time trial credits on install so you can test generation before upgrading.
Does content publish to my store automatically?
No. Every AI-generated description and FAQ lands in a review queue first. You approve or edit before anything goes live on your store or into your llms.txt file. Nothing publishes on its own.
What happens if I uninstall OtoRank?
OtoRank removes the URL redirect and app embed it added automatically. Nothing is left behind in your theme.
