Short answer
To help Claude discover and describe your Shopify products, allow ClaudeBot in robots.txt and make each product page complete and well-structured: a clear description, explicit attributes, a real FAQ, comparisons and use cases. Claude works from publicly available text; there is no privileged path and no guarantee of a recommendation.
How Claude encounters products
- Training data. Claude has general knowledge from text it was trained on, up to a cutoff date.
- Web search. When enabled, Claude can retrieve current web results and summarise them, with links.
Both routes depend on your content being readable and clear. Neither can be forced.
What a merchant can control
- ClaudeBot access in robots.txt.
- Complete product information, stated plainly.
- Structure: direct answers, FAQs, comparison tables.
- Accuracy: correct specs, policies and availability, so a summary of your page is not wrong.
- A clean llms.txt catalog summary.

Important limitations

Does OtoRank have a special integration with Claude?
No. OtoRank is built by otolab.ai and has no privileged access to Anthropic or Claude. It optimises publicly readable product information, the same content any web crawler can fetch.
Which crawler does Claude use?
Anthropic operates ClaudeBot for crawling and a user-triggered fetcher for Claude's web features. Allow them in robots.txt to be eligible. OtoRank reports ClaudeBot visits by name.
How does Claude find products to talk about?
From its training data and, when web search is enabled, from live search results. Either way it works from publicly available text, so clear, complete, well-structured product pages are what help.
Can OtoRank make Claude recommend my product?
No. Claude's responses are shaped by Anthropic's models and retrieval, the user's question and context. OtoRank improves the readable inputs, nothing downstream of them.
